Three Ways Into German in Wiesbaden (and How to Stretch the Expat Bubble)

Quiet tree-lined path covered in autumn leaves

If you live in Wiesbaden, you probably know the feeling: you want to stop translating your life and start living it, and you've tried the apps and the evening class, and you're still bracing every time the phone rings.

Here are three ways in. Pick whichever is easiest today. There's no wrong speed for this.

1. Listen: Life, Just in German

The podcast is a generally free public podcast that introduces the experiences, ideas and people behind the Next Level German community. It's the most painless way in: no commitment, no one watching, and a first taste of how we think about language and life.

Good for: getting a feel for the approach before you decide anything.

2. Join: Next Level German

The programme itself, built around Wiesbaden: structured DELA tracks, live practice with real people, and local businesses that know why you're there. Learners can enter at different starting points, and each track stands on its own.

Good for: when you're ready for real situations and want a supported route into them.

3. Host: join the partner network

Run a local business in Wiesbaden? The partner network is open to businesses that want to welcome learners with a clear understanding of why they've come. [ADD HOW TO GET IN TOUCH]

Good for: businesses that value good communication and the people who are working to take part.

About the expat bubble

The bubble is comfortable, and it exists for good reasons. Most of us build one when we arrive. But a bubble gets smaller every time you stay inside it, and it leaves you out of the German-language conversation going on around you. We cover the price of that in a later post.

Stretching it doesn't mean leaving it. It means finding small, safe, real places where German is the language and someone on the other side is on your side. That is exactly what the partner network is for.

If none of this is where you're at yet

Then just follow along. There's no wrong speed.
